Firmware update

Currently the latest version is ver 1.1.0

How to update

  1. Download “firmware.bin” file here.
  2. Place the file in your SD card’s root directory (not in a subdirectory).
  3. Make sure that REC-1 turn off the power.
  4. Insert the micro SD card into REC-1 unit.
  5. Turn on the power.
  6. Function LED start flashing blue-green and red.
  7. When the update is done, the LED stop flashing. Check the current firmware version.See this link for the way to check the firmware version.

 CAUTIONS

  • “firmware.bin” must be in in your SD card’s root directory(not in a subdirectory).
  • Format SD card may help when you fail the update.See this link for the way to format a SD card.

Cannot record correctly

There may be cases where REC-1 cannot save video or photos.

Please check the following points if you experience this issue.

  • Your SD card does not meet the required specifications.
    See this link for SD card requirements.
  • Your SD card is formatted incorrectly.
    See this link for how to format a SD card.

REC-1 becomes unresponsive

There may be cases where REC-1 becomes unresponsive.
If this happens please remove the battery and insert it again to reset REC-1.

Check if your SD card is formatted correctly as incorrect file formats may cause issues. See this link for instructions on how to format a SD card.

Cannot find REC-1 Wi-Fi

The SSID of REC-1 should be shown on SSID list of your smartphone when REC-1 is in Wi-Fi on mode.

Please check the following points when you cannot find the SSID.

Check if REC-1 Wi-Fi is enabled

The function LED blink blue-green (not recording) or red (recording) twice per 2 seconds. If you do see the LED blinking like this the REC-1 Wi-Fi is off.

Turn Wi-Fi on again. See this link for instructions.

Turn your smartphone Wi-Fi function off and on again.

Turning off and re-enabling your smartphone’s Wi-Fi function should refresh the SSID list.

 

How to format a SD card

Cerevo recommends you format your SD card before using with REC-1.
Non formatted SD cards may cause errors.

Format via REC-1 app

  1. Launch the app and connect to your REC-1.
    See this link for connection instructions.
  2. Tap [MENU]
  3. Tap [Format Camera]
  4. Confirm the message and tap [Confirm], SD card formatting will begin.

Format via a Windows PC

  1. Connect a SD card to the PC and check if the PC recognizes the SD card.
  2. Right-click and select “Format…”
  3. Select FAT32 or exFAT as the file system
    Cerevo recommends to select the “(Default)” option if both are listed.
    Do not select NTFS, REC-1 does not support NTFS.
  4. Select “Default allocation size”.
  5. Click [Start]
  6. Confirm the message and click [OK].
  7. Format is complete when the message “Format complete” is shown.
    Click [OK].
  8. Click [Close] to close the application.

About SD card requirements

See this link for officially tested SD cards.

Other SD cards may be used if they follow the specifications below.

SD card size

You must use microSD cards.
Normal SD cards can not be used.

SD card type

micro SD, micro SDHC and micro SDXC can be used.

Speed class

SD speed class 6 or more is required to record 1080p / 60 fps video.
You can use a speed class 4 SD card , however video resolution and frame rate is only supported up to 1080p / 30fps.

File system

FAT32 and exFAT can be used.
REC-1 does not support NTFS.

Is there any officially tested SD cards?

The following SD cards have been tested and worked correctly with REC-1.
*Using a card on this list does not mean Cerevo guarantees that it will work in every situation.
**All cards in the list are micro SD cards.

Can you use a USB cable other than the one included?

You can use a USB cable other than the one included in the box.

However, Cerevo does not guarantee operation with 3rd party USB cables. Any accident caused by a non Cerevo product is not covered by REC-1’s warranty.
